by Marketing

on Tue November 3, 2020

Approximately 30 lady members, with their invited guests, played in the 2020 Christmas Invitation Day on Monday, 2nd November 2020.  This was an exciting day because the new World Handicapping System came into effect and everyone was excited to hear how their Handicap Index translated into shots! Thank you to Chris Glendinning, Match and Handicap Secretary and her team of helpers for keeping everyone straight.  In addition, there was a 'Choose a Square Raffle' organised by Pat Hague and Pat Ruddock which we hope has raised almost £200 - figure to be confirmed shortly!  Thank you to the two Pat's and their helpers.  It may only be November but there are only 52 days left until Christmas Day and it was lovely to have our first home made mince pie and delicious drink of Mulled Wine at the halfway house.  Thank you to Jean Seager and her cohorts for their baking expertise.

Results of the competition are:

1st Place - 75 Points - E Brown, J Demoily, P Ruddock & E Kilvington

2nd Place - 73 Points - J Pringle, J James, J Butler & L Emberson

GOLFERS have helped give a Ryedale charity a boost by raising £342 for its funds.

Malton and Norton Golf Club members Judy Gibbard and Barbara Machin organised a golf day, supported by 60 players, in aid of Acorn Community Care in Norton.

The competition was followed by a mini afternoon tea prepared by Presswell Catering, who have recently taken over the catering.

“I found out a little bit more about Acorn and their projects and was delighted that, as a local charity, they were able to benefit from my special day,” said Barbara.

The not-for-profit organisation provides a supported learning service for adults with learning and physical disabilities in Ryedale.

The farm at Whinflower Hall provides projects which promote an active lifestyle and supports people in achieving their full potential.

The money will be used to buy an induction hob for the refurbished kitchen.

“Not everyone with learning difficulties can sense if a hob is hot or not and the induction hob will prevent accidents and burns,” said Julie Hall, farm manager at Acorn Community Care.
